Deep Roots; Potent Legacy
Circa 1957, at a time when such things were unheard of, Shri Praful D. Contractor went from India to Stanford University (USA) completed his MBA (Marketing) from Stanford Business School. A life member of Stanford Alumni Association, he distinguished himself as an exceptional and enterprising graduate student.
After graduating from Stanford in 1959, he returned to India to support his family and lend a helping hand to his father. After a few attempts at working for others, he decided to start his own business. Subsequently, he joined hands with a few partners in a trading organization as a Managing Partner to market Chemicals, Pesticides, Textile chemicals and Auxiliaries manufactured by reputed Indian and multi-national companies in the western part of India.
A decade later, he founded his own business along with family members by the name of 'Remik Trading Corporation'. A finance graduate with a marketing management background, he boosted the business activities right from the initial days. He was a strong believer of business ethics, value-for-money and in creating and maintaining long-lasting relationships. He has always remained committed to offer better service and better products at better value, for better growth.
Under his leadership, Remik expanded its business by leaps and bounds and today at presence in seven states of India with more than 250 employees and an annual turnover of around ₹ 2.35 billion. His relationship developing abilities, business acumen, foresight and competence benefitted Remik's growth hugely, such that today it enjoys marketing tie-ups with various reputed Indian as well as multinational companies. Remik also has two of its own manufacturing units of Dye Intermediates.
He was a man of many skills. Apart from his sharp business acumen, he had deep knowledge of Sanskrit scriptures and Indian Classical music, and was a connoisseur of mythological Pichhvai Paintings on ancient Indian culture from various parts of India.
Passionate to very last breath about his business and work, Shri Praful Contractor breathed his last on January 17, 2013.
